Nikolay Kosov was born on June 30, 1955, in Moscow. In 1977 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, majoring in International Relations. In 2000 he graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, majoring in Global Economy. He has a PhD in Economics.
1977−1992 — Assistant, Senior Assistant, Attaché, the Third, the Second and then the First Secretary, Counselor of the USSR Embassy, Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
1992−1993 — Assistant to the Vice President of the Russian Federation in the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.
1993−1998 — First Deputy, then CEO of Automobile All-Russia Alliance, member of the Board of Directors of AvtoVAZ.
1998−2007 — First Deputy of the Chairman of Vnesheconombank of the USSR.
2007−2012 — Member of the Board of the State Corporation 'Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)' - First Deputy Chairman of Vnesheconombank. During this period he also sat on the boards of directors of a number of leading Russian state-owned banks and companies.
Since 2010 — Member of the Board of Directors of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce.
Since September 2012 — Chairman of the Board of the International Investment Bank.
Mr. Kosov is a member of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.
For his contribution to the development of the financial and banking system of the Russian Federation, Mr. Kosov was awarded with the 4th degree Order «For Merit to the Fatherland», Order of Honor, and Medals of the Order «For Merit to the Fatherland» of the 1st and the 2nd degree. He has also been honored with the Acknowledgment of the President of the Russian Federation numerous times and was awarded with the badge of honor of the Leader of the Russian Economy, awarded with Oder of Friendship.
Nikolay Kosov is married, has a son, two grandsons and a granddaughter. His hobbies include philately, art, ecology and environmental protection.
