IIB participates in the Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
Delegation of the International Investment Bank took part in the annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on May 14−15. For the first time the IIB participated in the event as a special guest of the EBRD (equal to the status of an observer) along with other international financial institutions.
The IIB held a series of scheduled negotiations with a range of financial institutions and multilateral development banks (Commerzbank, ING, BNP Paribas, BayernLB, Raiffeisen Bank International, Sberbank Europe, World Bank, EBRD, NIB, IFC, BSTDB and others). The parties discussed implementation of already existing joint projects as well as prospects of future expansion of cooperation in the field of co-financing projects, raising additional funding for the IIB, trade finance, collaboration in the area of treasury operations and on capital markets, including establishment of respective limits or their increase. A number of arrangements was reached.
Overall, the meetings demonstrated high awareness about the Bank in the international financial community, and, crucially, interest of IIB’s partners to look for new possibilities for cooperation with the Bank in different areas even in the current difficult circumstances.
The Bank’s activities were presented in the daily newspaper of Business New Europe — the main media partner of this EBRD Annual Meeting.
