IIB strengthens its ties on the territory of Central and Eastern Europe
International Investment Bank participated in the VII Vienna Financial & Economic Forum of CIS and Eastern Europe Countries dedicated to the cooperation of financial and banking structures of the European Union and Commonwealth, which took place on April 28- 30, 2014. The forum was organized by the Financial & Banking Council of CIS jointly with the Banking Association of Central & Eastern Europe (BACEE) and supported by the Executive Committee of CIS and Vneshekonombank.
The top management of the national (central) banks and exchanges, leading commercial institutions, representatives of national financial authorities, bank unions and associations, innovation and investment companies from the EU and CIS participated in the Forum.
During the plenary meeting of the Forum an expended report on the IIB’s activities with an accent on its credit-investment work in the SMEs sector in the member states and also the possibilities on supporting the export-import operations between the members of the Bank was presented.
The delegation of the IIB also participated in a round table on «The actual issues of export finance: international experience and the practice of the exports support.» The participants of the forum were especially interested in the information about establishing the multilateral cooperation between the export agencies of the Bank’s member states on its territory. A further discussion of this issue continued during the bilateral meetings. Exim Bank of Hungary, Commerzbank, BHF Bank showed interest to participate in such a format of cooperation.
As a result of the forum a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Financial and Banking Association of the countries-members of the Cooperation of Shanghai (FBACS) and the Banking Association of Central & Eastern Europe (BACEE). IIB considers this agreement as a further integration of the banking associations of Eastern and European countries, part of which composes a major territory of the Bank.
