The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board Nikolay Kosov. There was a detailed talk during which many aspects of the development of the IIB as a multilateral financial institution, the territory of which member states extends from Asia to Latin America were discussed.

The Head of the IIB informed the Minister about the current situation in the Bank, the results of 2013, the preparation of the new version of constituent documents, the acceptance of which is to take place during the meeting of the Council of the Bank in May 2014.

Sergey Lavrov emphasized that Russia supports all efforts of the Bank’s development, having noted the unique character of the IIB as an international bank for development which has its headquarters in Moscow. The Minister confirmed the interest of the Russian Federation to bring to a conclusion the Bank’s transformation into a multilateral institution for development which has a strong resource base and contributes to the development and cooperation of the economies of its member states.
