IIB is financing the international expansion of a Bulgarian pharmaceutical company

Huvepharma, a privately owned global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Bulgaria and specialising in veterinary products, has acquired a portfolio of assets from Zoetis, a major international producer of drugs, diagnostic kits and equipment for use in the veterinary field. The transaction was financed through an upsize of Huvepharma’s existing EUR 275 million facility, which was put in place in 2014. On December 3-4, 2015, the highest governing authority of the International Investment Bank, the IIB Council, held its 104th meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam. IIB’s loan helps create 180 jobs in a new manufacturing plant in Bulgaria

Bulgarian company Sparky Eltos will use the funding received under the syndicated loan from the International Investment Bank and the Bulgarian Development Bank for production of a new range of wireless electric tools with Li-ion batteries. Utilising the EUR 10 million loan facility, EUR 7 million of which was provided by the IIB, the company built a plant in the city of Lovech with 180 new jobs. Investors in IIB’s Slovak bonds receive their first coupon payment

Today, the IIB paid out the first coupon on its 5-year bonds issued on the Bratislava Stock Exchange in October last year, when they spurred demand among investors from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Russia. The interest payment, in line with the annual rate of 3.5%, amounted to EUR 1.05 million. Tatra banka a.s., the initial lead manager of the issue, was the paying agent.
