IIB Strengthens Its Positions in the Asia-Pacific Region
On May 22−24 the IIB’s delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Board Mr. D. Molomjamts took part in the events within the frames of the 36th session of the General Assembly of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), the largest regional association of the sort with more than 130 member-institutions. The Assembly took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The session was organized in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia. After successful application approval in March 2013, the Association accepted the Bank as an observer during an official ceremony within the frames of the forum.
The general topic of the discussion was 'FIDs and the chamber of commerce and trade: Advancing Sustainable Businesses' within which workshops, round tables, panel discussions took place. The above-mentioned sessions were devoted to the issues of the financing of housing, micro financing, the role of the banks in the sustainable economic growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises, green investment into infrastructure and energy.
Several meetings with the representatives of various international and national development financial institutions were held where the issues of mutual interests were discussed. Certain finance and credit organizations, Mongolian among them, expressed interest in the prospect of cooperation with the IIB, which they would like to discuss in greater detail.
The events were closed with the acceptance of The Joint Ulaanbaatar Declaration, which states the major results of the achieved agreements. Following the suggestion of State corporation «Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)», the coming annual ADFIAP events will take place in Moscow next year. They will be organized in cooperation with the Association’s Secretariat.
