The International Investment Bank (IIB) has made significant progress in implementing the concept of a "green office" according to the plan of the IIB’s initiative of responsible attitude to the environment, which was approved in 2016. During the year, the Bank consistently reduced the consumption of resources and supplies for both its Headquarters in Moscow and the European Regional Office in Bratislava.

The IIB managed to optimize its printing expenses and to reduce the procurement of a paper by 8%. Decreasing the number of personal printers, switching to a new electronic document management system and applying two-sided printing were all instrumental in this process. A separate collection of a paper for recycling has started.

As far as the IIB’s headquarters are concern in 2016, there was a reduction in electricity consumption by 3% and water consumption - by 2%. Savings have been achieved by using such measures as shutting down the ventilation system during bank holidays, replacing of obsolete equipment with more energy efficient ones, and modernizing the lighting system.

The "green office" concept is a logical next step to Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Guidelines used by the Bank in assessing its investment projects. The model derived its principles from the United Nations Global Compact. The IIB has been signatory of the Compact since 2014, thus reflects the Bank's commitment as an environmentally responsible development institution to promote global environmental initiatives.

The Bank’s employees will continue to intensify efforts to reduce the possible carbon emission of their activities to the environment. In 2017, the IIB plans to implement a number of new measures to compensate its negative environmental impact.
