IIB issues another eco-grant: the Bank will support “Clear Water. Happy Tisza" project
International Investment Bank announces the allocation of an eco-grant to support a large-scale environmental program “Clear water. Happy Tisza” aimed at combating the plastic pollution of Hungary’s second largest river.
The implementation of this project will help build an effective digital platform to protect Tisza basin from plastic pollution, as well as consolidate efforts of volunteers, local communities, authorities and business to solve this environmental problem of vital importance for the entire Central and Eastern Europe region.
Almost a thousand-kilometer long Tisza flows through the territory of 5 European countries - Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, three of them are IIB member states.
The Bank’s mandate as an international financial institution suggests that in all areas of its activities it aims to achieve UN sustainable development goals in general, including combat negative climate changes, conserve and rational use of water resources, and protection of land ecosystems.
IIB traditionally supports significant environmental initiatives in its countries, projects aimed at saving and conserving water resources being among the Bank’s top priorities.
