A new appointment at the IIB: Georgy Potapov has been appointed to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of the International Investment Bank

The International Investment Bank (IIB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Georgy Potapov to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of the IIB.

In this new position, Mr. Potapov will coordinate the activities of the Bank’s Strategy bloc, and will be responsible, among other things, for such key directions as strategic planning and implementation of the fundamental goals of the Bank’s development, for cooperation with international and national development financial institutions, with their groupings and associations, and for cooperation with the member states’ public bodies as well as official representatives of third countries.

Georgy Potapov brings to this position his longtime experience from a successful professional career in the area of international relations, financial and investment activities, corporate development and corporate management.

During his tenure at the IIB, Mr. Potapov has actively participated in the implementation of the tasks aimed at reforming and restarting the IIB as a full-fledged, modern and dynamically growing international development bank. Mr. Potapov has been responsible for the preparation of the Development Strategy of the IIB for 2018–2022 aimed at ensuring further stable growth of the Bank’s main indicators, its penetration in new markets, and development of its product and service lines in the interest of all its member states. In addition, Mr. Potapov has led the creation and active development of the Bank’s broad partnership network, thanks to which the IIB can now fully participate in international economic relations, occupying a respected place in the global community of development banks.

Before joining the IIB in 2013, Mr. Potapov held high-level positions in leading public and private corporations, such as Rosatom, Basic Element, Rossiya Bank, as well as positions in the Russian diplomatic service.

Mr. Potapov graduated from the School of International Economic Relations of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and also holds a diploma from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
