XVII Conference of International Investigators – IIB strengthens cooperation with the leading IFIs in the area of compliance practices
The delegation of the International Investment Bank (IIB) participated in the XVII International Conference of International Investigators, held in Vienna, Austria, on October 5-7, 2016. A representative forum focused on discussion of issues such as combating corruption and staff misconduct investigations, upgrading the corporate policies, compliance procedures and business ethics. Investigators from almost 50 international organizations, including representatives from multilateral development banks, international banking corporations, international agencies and non-profit organizations, participated in the conference.
During the annual meeting of the working group of IFIs’ compliance officers on prevention of illegal practices and conduction of relevant investigations, which was held before the conference, the IIB presented a review of its compliance activities over the past 12 months. The discussion focused on the Bank's experience in the area of automation of contractors’ screening and KYC procedures. The group agreed the institution’s decision to access the Uniform taskforce to prevent fraud and corruption. The meeting included presentations regarding the progress of introduction of advanced compliance practices by leading IFIs, as well as an exchange of views on further steps to enhance international cooperation in this area.
Within the framework of the conference, the IIB representatives held a meeting with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Parties discussed the options for mutually beneficial cooperation between organizations. Taking into account the agreements reached, the IIB plans to strengthen its cooperation with the OLAF in case the Bank starts its cooperation with European funds, both as an investor and as a lender.
